The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Marinos' (2-9) road loss to fourth ranked Guaiqueries (6-7) 70-87 on Tuesday. Guaiqueries outrebounded Marinos 40-18 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Marinos' players. The best player for the winners was Greek Fotios Lampropoulos (206-83) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Derwin Ramirez (191-82) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Guaiqueries players scored in double figures. Forward Jose Sojo (194-96) produced 15 points and Edgar Martinez (190-97) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Guaiqueries maintains fourth place with 6-7 record. Loser Marinos keep the fifth position with nine games lost. Guaiqueries will again meet at home Marinos (#5) in the next round. Marinos will have a break next round.
