The game had a very big importance for fifth-ranked Capitol as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Union Atletica) loss. Capitol defeated 3rd placed 25 de Agosto in Montevideo 93-79. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Capitol dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to 25 de Agosto's 28. They outrebounded 25 de Agosto 39-28 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. 25 de Agosto was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Gene Teague (206-89, college: Seton Hall, agency: DTMones) nailed a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (on 16-of-20 shooting from the field) for the winning side and guard Santiago Pereira (180-96) accounted for 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Jesse Hardin (188-93, college: Walsh) came up with 41 points (!!!) (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and forward Martin Rojas (197-98) added 11 points and 13 rebounds respectively for 25 de Agosto in the defeat. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Cordon and Colon. 25 de Agosto at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. 25 de Agosto will play next round against Miramar trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo - Miramar. Capitol will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Lagomar. It will be extra interesting game as Lagomar is their local rival from Montevideo.
