Regular Season Round 18: Panteras - Gigantes 87-60

Top ranked Gigantes (10-6) recorded its sixth loss in Caracas on Wednesday night. Visitors were rolled over by second ranked Panteras (8-4) 87-60. Panteras looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was American Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) who scored 30 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). The other American import point guard Shannon Scott (191-92, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 9 points. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds and forward Luis Almanza (196-91) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panteras maintains second position with 8-4 record having eight points less than leader Gigantes. Gigantes at the other side still keep top place with six games lost. Panteras are looking forward to face Guaiqueries (#4) in Porlamar in the next round. Gigantes will have a break next round.
