Regular Season Round 5: Fujian - Guangxi 97-87

NBL round 5 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of league's leader Guangxi (4-1) against fourteenth ranked Fujian (1-4) 97-87 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Guangxi. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 97-87. Fujian forced 20 Guangxi turnovers. American guard Antoine Mason (191-92, college: Auburn) orchestrated the victory by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import center Amir Williams (211-92, college: Ohio St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. Forward Minho Lee (199-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds and American center Isaiah Austin (216-93, college: Baylor, agency: Slash Sports) added 16 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Guangxi. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Fujian left bottom position moving up to twelfth place, which they share with Henan. Guangxi at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with 4 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Anhui. Guangxi will play next round against Jiangsu trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Fujian will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Beijing on the road.
