There was no surprise in Townsville where 14th ranked Power (1-10) was crushed by first ranked Flames (10-1) 104-68 on Friday. Flames dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Power's 34. Flames forced 23 Power turnovers and outrebounded them 49-33 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Power's players. Forward Darcee Garbin (187-94) fired 22 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Swingman Miela Goodchild (175-0) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Flames players scored in double figures. Flames' coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Amanda Frost (174-91, college: N.Arizona) produced 27 points and her fellow American import guard Tanaya Atkinson (183, college: Temple) added 14 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Flames maintains first position in League with 10-1 record. Loser Power keeps the fourteenth place with ten games lost. Flames will face Dolphins (#10) in Cairns in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Power will play at home against Cyclones (#7) and hope to win that game.
