There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Rockhampton Rockets (5-5) were smashed at home by ninth ranked Rollers (4-6) 130-86 on Friday. The game without a history. Rollers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Rollers forced 20 Rockhampton Rockets turnovers. American guard Deon Mitchell (186-93, college: N.Iowa) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points. Guard Matthew Adekponya (194-90) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American swingman Malcolm Bernard (198-94, college: Xavier) answered with 35 points (!!!) and the other American import guard Ray Willis (198-89, college: N.C.Central, agency: HMS) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Rockhampton Rockets. Five Rollers and four Rockhampton Rockets players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Rollers went down to tenth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Rockhampton Rockets dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. Rollers will face NGC Seahawks (#15) in Runaway Bay in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game.
