Regular Season Round 6: Guizhou - Luoyang 115-107

The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Guizhou as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Anhui) loss. Guizhou defeated 8th ranked Luoyang at home 115-107. The hosts were already 13 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 29-24 Luoyang's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 115-107 at the end of the game. Guizhou dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Luoyang's 48. They outrebounded Luoyang 43-30 including 17 on the offensive glass. Luoyang was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. New Zealand guard Corey Webster (188-88, college: Lambuth) notched a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and American-Nigerian center Chris Otule (211-90, college: Marquette) supported him with 32 points and 11 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). Even a double-double of 30 points and 10 rebounds by Nigerian forward Ebi Ndudi (206-84) did not help to save the game for Luoyang. Forward Shuai Liu (196-95) added 20 points. Four Luoyang players scored in double figures. Guizhou (5-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Hebei X. and Guangxi. Luoyang at the other side dropped to the ninth place with four games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Luoyang will play next round against Wuhan trying to get back on the winning streak. Guizhou will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
