Regular Season Round 6: Beijing - Fujian 87-104

There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Beijing (1-4) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Fujian (2-4) 104-87 on Friday. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 17 points. Fujian made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fujian made 10 blocks. Beijing was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Antoine Mason (191-92, college: Auburn) had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center Amir Williams (211-92, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 21 points, 15 rebounds and 7 blocks during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Devonte Upson (206-93, college: SE Louisiana) with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks and guard Wei Zheng (180-91) scored 25 points and 5 rebounds. Four Fujian and five Beijing players scored in double figures. Fujian moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Beijing lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with four games lost. Fujian will face bottom-ranked Jiangsu (#15) in He Fei in the next round where they are favorite. Beijing will play at home against Shaanxi X. and hope to win that game.
