Regular Season Round 17: Albury W.B. - Bendigo B. 94-102

Date: June 23, 2018
There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Bandits (6-8) lost to fifth ranked Bendigo Braves (9-5) in Albury 94-102 on Saturday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bendigo Braves made 10 blocks. Bandits were plagued by 34 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. Forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) orchestrated the victory by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Point guard Jeremy Kendle (186-88, college: Bellarmine) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Lamar Mallory (201-90, college: Glenville St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Rashad Hassan (203-89, college: Savannah St.) added 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) in the effort for Bandits. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Bandits' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Bendigo Braves moved-up to second place in League. Loser Bandits keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Bendigo Braves will face Geelong Supercats (#4) at home in the next round. Bandits will play against the league's second-placed Kilsyth Cobras and hope to win that game.
