There was no surprise in Cotton Tree where 9th ranked Brisbane Spartans (6-2) were crushed by second ranked Sunshine CP (10-2) 101-81 on Saturday. Sunshine CP made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The former international center Abby Bishop (189-88) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists (made all of her seven free throws) for the winners. The former international point guard Natalie Hurst (164-83) chipped in 28 points and 6 rebounds. American swingman Aja Parham (183-84, college: Boston Coll.) produced 12 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and forward Ashley Taia (183, college: Indiana St.) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Four Sunshine CP and five Brisbane Spartans players scored in double figures. Sunshine CP maintains second position in League with 10-2 record having four points less than leader Bendigo LB. Loser Brisbane Spartans dropped to the fifth place with two games lost. Sunshine CP will face Force (#3) in Booval in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Brisbane Spartans will play at home against Sunshine CR and hope to win that game.
