Regular Season Round 17: Penrith P. - Maitland M. 85-95

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Panthers (5-10) lost to tenth ranked Maitland Mustangs (3-11) in Penrith 85-95 on Sunday. Maitland Mustangs looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Tyler Monroe (201-90, college: Azusa Pacific) orchestrated the victory by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Jack Edwards contributed with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Maitland Mustangs' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Sean Weekes (194) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and guard Benjamin Kearins (188, agency: MKP Management) added 20 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Panthers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maitland Mustangs moved-up to ninth place in League. Newly promoted Panthers keep the eighth position with ten games lost. Maitland Mustangs will face higher ranked Crusaders (#6) in Terrigal in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
