Regular Season Round 7: Jiangsu - Fujian 103-115

Everything went according to plan in He Fei where twelfth ranked Fujian (3-4) won against bottom-ranked Jiangsu (0-7) 115-103 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Fujian. Jiangsu was better in fourth quarter 34-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fujian forced 24 Jiangsu turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fujian made 7 blocks. American guard Antoine Mason (191-92, college: Auburn) fired 55 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import center Amir Williams (211-92, college: Ohio St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 7 blocks. Forward MingYang Gao (196-88) produced 41 points (!!!) and 5 assists and British center Morakinyo Williams (210-88, college: Citadel) added 21 points and 15 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fujian have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Wuhan. Loser Jiangsu still closes the standings with seven games lost. Fujian will face higher ranked Hebei X. (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jiangsu will play against Beijing (#13) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
