There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Stingrays (2-13) edged 9th ranked Devils (5-11) in Werribee 100-98 on Sunday. Stingrays dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Devils' 50. Aaron Lynch orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds. American power forward Julius Brooks (206-90, college: Loyola, MD) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Stingrays players scored in double figures. Stingrays' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Konor Kulas (201-94, college: S.Dakota Mines) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds and Deng Chan added 23 points in the effort for Devils. Stingrays maintains twelfth place in League with 2-13 record. Loser Devils keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. Stingrays will face higher ranked Blackburn V. (#11) in Melbourne in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
