Regular Season Round 17: Kilsyth C. - Geelong S. 89-96

Leading Kilsyth Cobras (11-3) recorded its third loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Geelong Supercats (8-6) 96-89. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-18. But Kilsyth Cobras won second period 27-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Geelong Supercats dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Kilsyth Cobras' 44. Kilsyth Cobras were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international swingman Nathan Herbert (192-84) stepped up and scored 31 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American forward John Davis (196-94, college: Towson) chipped in 26 points and 8 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). Forward Chris Patton (208-91, college: Cal-Riverside) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Dane Pineau (206-94, college: St.Mary's, CA) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Four Geelong Supercats and five Kilsyth Cobras players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Geelong Supercats maintains fourth place in League with 8-6 record. Kilsyth Cobras at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. Geelong Supercats will play against Tigers (#5) in Melbourne in the next round. Kilsyth Cobras will play at home against Bandits and hope to get back on the winning track.
