Rather expected game when 6th ranked Nationals (5-11) lost to third ranked Sabres (12-6) in Canberra 72-81 on Saturday. Sabres made 27-of-32 free shots (84.4 percent) during the game. Nationals were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international Rachel Jarry (185-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 5 rebounds. British guard Eilidh Simpson (170-92, college: St.Francis, NY) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Sabres players scored in double figures. Forward Keely Froling (188-96, college: SMU) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 23 rebounds and point guard Abby Cubillo (161-99) added 21 points and 7 assists in the effort for Nationals. Sabres maintains third place in League with 12-6 record having two points less than leader Bendigo LB. Loser Nationals keep the sixth position with 11 games lost. Sabres will face league's leader Lady Cobras in Kilsyth in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nationals will play at home against Sydney Uni S. (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
