Regular Season Round 17: Diamond VE - Nunawading S. 80-65

Date: June 30, 2018
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when third ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (11-7) won against second-ranked Spectres (12-5) in Greensborough 80-65 on Saturday. Diamond Valley Eagles looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Spectres' players. The former international power forward Lauren Scherf (196-96) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. International power forward Eziyoda Magbegor (176-99) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Diamond Valley Eagles players scored in double figures. Diamond Valley Eagles' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Izzy Chilcott (180-90) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and guard Marena Whittle (180-94, college: N.Dakota St.) added 17 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Spectres. Diamond Valley Eagles moved-up to second place in League which they share with defeated Spectres. Loser Spectres keep the second position with five games lost. Diamond Valley Eagles will face Frankston Blues (#8) in Seaford in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Spectres will play on the road against Ballarat Rush (#7) in Wendouree and hope to win that game.
