Very expected game when 9th ranked Lions (3-13) lost to fourth ranked Eagles (10-6) in Gawler 72-87 on Saturday. Eagles forced 21 Lions turnovers and outrebounded them 50-36 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Power forward Samantha Simons (183-0) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Forward Olivia Thompson (185-93) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American guard Shawnte Goff (173-94, college: UTRGV) answered with 31 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and center Leah Swain (192-88) added 24 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Lions. Eagles maintains fourth place in League with 10-6 record. Loser Lions keep the ninth position with 13 games lost. Eagles will face Panthers (#10) in Adelaide in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Lions will play on the road against Bearcats in Woodville and hope to win that game.
