Regular Season Round 8: U Atletica - Miramar 90-60

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: Union Atletica (#8) and Miramar (#7). Union Atletica (5-4) smashed visiting Miramar (5-3) by 30 points 90-60. Union Atletica made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game, while Miramar only scored seven points from the stripe. Union Atletica forced 22 Miramar turnovers and outrebounded them 41-28 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. 28 personal fouls committed by Miramar helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Gaston Semiglia (192-91) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 5 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and American center Ricardo Glenn (202-90, college: USC Upstate, agency: HMS) who added 15 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Union Atletica players scored in double figures. Forward Damian-Andres Blazina (186-93) responded with 8 points, 8 assists and 4 steals and Maximiliano Botta scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Union Atletica moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Miramar at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Union Atletica's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Larranaga.
