Very expected game when 6th ranked Magic (8-10) lost to second ranked Redbacks (16-4) in Northbridge 94-102 on Sunday. Redbacks made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 25 Magic turnovers. American forward Kayla Standish (187-89, college: Gonzaga) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Bianca Donovan contributed with 21 points for the winners. Four Redbacks players scored in double figures. Redbacks' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Anita Brown (173, college: Akron) answered with 36 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Slovakian center Regina Palusna (192-89) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists in the effort for Magic. Redbacks maintains second place in League with 16-4 record having just four point less than leader Bendigo LB. Loser Magic keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Redbacks will face Slammers (#9) in Bunbury in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Magic will play at home against Senators and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
