The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Pirates' (9-2) road victory over 4th placed Force (9-2) in Booval 81-55 on Sunday. Pirates dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Force's 26. Pirates forced 27 Force turnovers and outrebounded them 46-31 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. New Zealand forward Kalani Purcell (188-95, college: BYU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Madelyn Willey contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Pirates players scored in double figures. Amanda Johnson answered with 8 points and 10 rebounds and guard Georgia Williams (183-95, college: Columbia) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for Force. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pirates maintains third place in League with 9-2 record having twelve points less than leader Bendigo LB. Pirates will face Logan Thunder (#12) in Loganholme in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Force will play on the road against Power (#14) in Gladstone and hope to win that game.
