Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Mountaineers (0-13) were outscored by sixth ranked Seahawks (8-5) in Toowoomba 126-40 on Sunday. Seahawks held Mountaineers to an opponent 23.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 47.2 percent accuracy of the winners and had 22 for 30 from the free-throw line, while Mountaineers only scored five points from the stripe. Seahawks forced 29 Mountaineers turnovers and outrebounded them 74-22 including a 35-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 38 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Mountaineers' players. Mountaineers were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Leeza Burdgess (194-90, college: La Salle) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 20 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Aimee Durbidge (180, college: N.Idaho JC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Seahawks players scored in double figures. Tracey Russell answered with 11 points and American swingman Donnaizha Fountain (183, college: Seton Hall, agency: Gamble Sports Management) added 4 points in the effort for Mountaineers. Mountaineers' coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Despite that victory Seahawks went down to seventh position (League) due to points difference. Loser Mountaineers still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Seahawks will face higher ranked Cyclones (#5) in Rockhampton in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mountaineers will play on the road against Capitals (#10) in Brisbane and hope to get finally their first victory.
