Regular Season Round 18: Lakeside L. - SW Slammers 92-68

Date: July 6, 2018
Not a big story in a game in Bullcreek where 9th ranked Slammers (8-12) were rolled over by first ranked Lightning (18-1) 92-68 on Friday. Lightning dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Slammers' 20. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American swingman Ali Schwagmeyer (177-90, college: Quincy) had a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Sydnee Fipps (178, college: Cal-Davis) chipped in 26 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Courtney Bayliss (183-93, college: Our Lady Lake) with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Tayah Burrows produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lightning maintains first position in League with 18-1 record. Loser Slammers keep the ninth place with 12 games lost. Lightning will face Wanneroo (#11) in Joondalup in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Slammers will play on the road against Cougars in Hamilton Hill and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
