Regular Season Round 19: BA CoE - Mt Gambier 86-88

Important game to mention about took place in Canberra. Fifth ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (9-9) saved a 2-point derby victory on the road edging 4th placed BA CoE (11-8) 88-86 on Friday evening. The guests trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 2 points. Mount Gambier Pioneers made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Mount Gambier Pioneers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 68.8 percentage. It was a great evening for American guard Alex Marzette (196-93, college: Robert Morris) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Erik Burdon (190-85) helped adding 19 points and 5 assists. At the losing side forward Kyle Bowen (200-0) responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and Alex Ducas scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Mount Gambier Pioneers and four BA CoE players scored in double figures. Mount Gambier Pioneers maintains fifth place in League with 9-9 record. Loser BA CoE keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. Mount Gambier Pioneers will face higher ranked Geelong Supercats (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
