Regular Season Round 19: Diamond V.E. - Hobart C. 78-91

Very expected game in Greensborough where 7th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (7-12) were defeated by first ranked Chargers (14-5) 91-78 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Chargers. Diamond Valley Eagles was better in third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chargers made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Strangely Diamond Valley Eagles outrebounded Chargers 40-27 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Diamond Valley Eagles were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Craig Moller (203-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Tre Nichols (180-89, college: Boise St., agency: SDJ Sports) helped adding 26 points and 4 steals. At the losing side American forward Mike Best (208-93, college: Cal-Irvine) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import forward Daniel Camps (196-94, college: Queens, NC) scored 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Diamond Valley Eagles' coach let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Chargers maintains first place in League with 14-5 record. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. Chargers will face Dandenong Rangers (#5) on the road in the next round. Diamond Valley Eagles will play against NW Tasmania Thunder in Ulverstone and hope to win that game.
