Regular Season Round 8: KCCA Lions - Charging Rhinos 83-64

Bottom-ranked KCC Lions managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time newly promoted KCC Lions outleveled eleventh-ranked Charging Rhinos 83-64. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 19-point difference proves that KCC Lions was well-prepared to that game. KCC Lions outrebounded Charging Rhinos 36-23 including 29 on the defensive glass. Francis Mbuyi orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Brian Waters (188-85, college: Elon) contributed with 27 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four KCC Lions players scored in double figures. Forward Abel Omomgin (-89) replied with 20 points and forward Swaib Kalungi added 18 points in the effort for Charging Rhinos. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. KCC Lions (4-10) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Charging Rhinos and UPDF. KCC Lions will play against higher ranked Our Saviour (#5) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Charging Rhinos will play against UPDF (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
