Very expected game in Bunbury where 9th ranked Slammers (8-12) were crushed by second ranked Redbacks (16-4) 71-52 on Saturday. Redbacks dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Slammers' 28. Redbacks forced 20 Slammers turnovers and outrebounded them 56-40 including a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Kayla Standish (187-89, college: Gonzaga) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Neseya Williams chipped in 7 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Dutch center Charlotte van Kleef (190-96) with 18 points and American forward Tori Fisher (0, college: Colorado Springs) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Redbacks maintains second position in League with 16-4 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Bendigo LB. Loser Slammers keep the ninth place with 12 games lost. Redbacks will face Flames (#3) in Rockingham in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Slammers will play on the road against Cougars (#10) in Hamilton Hill and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
