There was no surprise in Gladstone where 14th ranked Power (1-13) was defeated by fourth ranked Force (10-2) 98-94 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Force made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Power was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Amanda Johnson had a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international center Meg Essex (190-96) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Tanaya Atkinson (183, college: Temple) with 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists and her fellow American import guard Amanda Frost (174-91, college: N.Arizona) scored 28 points and 4 assists. Force maintains fourth position in League with 10-2 record. Loser Power keeps the fourteenth place with 13 games lost. Force will face Rollers (#13) in Gold Coast in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Power will play on the road against Meteorettes in Mackay and hope to win that game.
