Regular Season Round 19: East Perth E. - Mandurah M. 81-102

Date: July 7, 2018
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Morley where twelfth ranked Magic (6-17) smashed 11th ranked Eagles (8-15) 102-81 on Saturday. Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Eagles' 28. They outrebounded Eagles 43-32 including 32 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Magic made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American guard Shaun Stewart (180-94, college: Limestone) who led his team to a victory scoring 36 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 8 assists. His fellow American import swingman Jamal Shabazz (198-94, college: Samford) helped adding 25 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Magic players scored in double figures. At the losing side swingman Drew Williamson (196-83, college: Metro St.) responded with 26 points and American power forward Jonathan Morse (203-91, college: Metro St.) scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Magic went down to thirteenth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Eagles keep the eleventh place with 15 games lost. Magic will face higher ranked Suns (#9) in Kalamunda in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
