Regular Season Round 19: NGC Seahawks - Rockhampton 89-78

There was an upset in Runaway Bay where higher ranked Rockhampton Rockets (8-7) were defeated by fifteenth ranked NGC Seahawks (3-12) 89-78 on Saturday. NGC Seahawks dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Rockhampton Rockets' 34. NGC Seahawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Rockhampton Rockets' players. It was a great evening for American swingman Quinton Campbell (201-93, college: S.Mississippi) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import swingman Jerron Jamerson (193, college: Goshen) helped adding 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Campbell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five NGC Seahawks players scored in double figures. NGC Seahawks' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American swingman Malcolm Bernard (198-94, college: Xavier) responded with a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and swingman James Mitchell (194-91) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. NGC Seahawks moved-up to fourteenth place in League. Loser Rockhampton Rockets dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. NGC Seahawks will face Brisbane Spartans (#15) at home in the next round.
