Regular Season Round 19: Bendigo B. - NW Tasmania 79-73

The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Bendigo Braves' (10-8) home victory over 4th placed NW Tasmania Thunder (10-9) 79-73 on Saturday. Bendigo Braves dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to NW Tasmania Thunder's 26. They outrebounded NW Tasmania Thunder 49-35 including 36 on the defensive glass. Bendigo Braves looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American point guard Jeremy Kendle (186-88, college: Bellarmine) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) helped adding 23 points and 15 rebounds. Bendigo Braves' coach Ben Harvey used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side guard Mason Bragg (182-93) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Tre Armstrong scored 22 points. Bendigo Braves maintains third place in League with 10-8 record having just two point less than leader Mackay M. Loser NW Tasmania Thunder keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Bendigo Braves will face Geelong Supercats (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. NW Tasmania Thunder will play against Diamond Valley Eagles and hope to win that game.
