The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Diamond Valley Eagles' (7-12) road victory over 8th ranked Frankston Blues (4-15) 99-80 on Saturday. Diamond Valley Eagles dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Frankston Blues' 38. They outrebounded Frankston Blues 43-28 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Diamond Valley Eagles looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Mike Best (208-93, college: Cal-Irvine) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. New Zealand forward Dyson King-Hawea (200-92) helped adding 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side forward Dan Trist (206-92, college: Lafayette) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and naturalized American swingman Bennie Lewis (203-87, college: Benedict) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 8 rebounds, 11 assists and 5 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Frankston Blues' coach let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Diamond Valley Eagles maintains seventh place in League with 7-12 record. Loser Frankston Blues keep the eighth position with 15 games lost. Diamond Valley Eagles will face higher ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (#4) in Ulverstone in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Frankston Blues will play at home against the league's leader Kilsyth Cobras (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
