The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Spiders' (3-15) road loss to ninth ranked Maitland Mustangs (6-11) 63-89 on Saturday. Maitland Mustangs dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Spiders' 42. Maitland Mustangs forced 20 Spiders turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Tyler Monroe (201-90, college: Azusa Pacific) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. Jack Edwards helped adding 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Maitland Mustangs players scored in double figures. Maitland Mustangs' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Matthew Horsley responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and Hayden Forde scored 22 points. Maitland Mustangs maintains ninth place in League with 6-11 record. Loser Spiders keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. Maitland Mustangs will face Bankstown Bruins (#11) in Condell Park in the next round. Spiders will play at home against Norths Soul Sports Bears and hope to win that game.
