Regular Season Round 19: Newcastle H. - Sutherland S. 94-60

No shocking result in a game in Broadmeadow where first ranked Newcastle Hunters (14-3) outleveled 7th ranked Sutherland Sharks (8-9) 94-60 on Saturday. They outrebounded Sutherland Sharks 49-32 including a 40-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Newcastle Hunters looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Sutherland Sharks' players. It was a great evening for American guard Austin Thornton (195-88, college: Michigan St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import forward Sharif Watson (198-93, college: Ariz.Christian) helped adding 17 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side swingman Jake Wilson (193-88) responded with 16 points and Lochlan Hutchison scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Sutherland Sharks' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newcastle Hunters maintains first place in League with 14-3 record. Loser Sutherland Sharks keep the seventh position with nine games lost. Newcastle Hunters will face league's second-placed Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in Narrabeen in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sutherland Sharks will play at home against Sydney City Comets (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
