Date: July 7, 2018
Everything went according to plan in Seaford where second ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (11-8) beat 8th ranked Frankston Blues (2-17) 87-70 on Saturday. Diamond Valley Eagles made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Diamond Valley Eagles outrebounded Frankston Blues 43-25 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international power forward Lauren Scherf (196-96) had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and international power forward Eziyoda Magbegor (176-99) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. Diamond Valley Eagles' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was guard Stacey Barr (173-92, college: Idaho) with 22 points and 4 assists and Stephanie Reid scored 14 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Diamond Valley Eagles went down to third position (League) due to points difference. Loser Frankston Blues keep the eighth place with 17 games lost. Diamond Valley Eagles will face league's second-placed Tornadoes in Launceston in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Frankston Blues will play at home against the league's leader Lady Cobras (#1) and hope to win that game.
