There was an upset in Wendouree where second-best Spectres (13-6) were defeated by seventh ranked Ballarat Rush (5-13) 80-62 on Saturday. The game without a history. Ballarat Rush led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great shooting night for Ballarat Rush especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Taiwanese center Hsi-Le Bao (196-90) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 19 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Courtney Walker (173-94, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Marena Whittle (180-94, college: N.Dakota St.) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and forward Izzy Chilcott (180-90) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Spectres' coach gave the chance to play for eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Ballarat Rush maintains seventh position in League with 5-13 record. Loser Spectres keep the second place with six games lost. Ballarat Rush will face higher ranked Hobart Chargers (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Spectres will play against Sabres in Cheltenham and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
