Regular Season Round 14: Hunan - Lhasa 111-92

There was no surprise in Changsha where 8th ranked Lhasa (6-7) was crushed by third ranked Hunan (10-3) 111-92. The game was mostly controlled by Hunan. Lhasa was better in fourth quarter 33-30. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Lhasa's 44. They outrebounded Lhasa 50-30 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. American center Michael Holyfield (211-92, college: Sam Houston St.) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 22 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and center JunQi Jiang (202-90) supported him with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Hunan's coach Moon Yoong Hwang let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 18 points and 4 assists by point guard Yao Guangguo (185-94) did not help to save the game for Lhasa. Center DangJian Han (208-88) added 14 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Five Hunan and four Lhasa players scored in double figures. Hunan maintains third position with 10-3 record behind leader Guangxi, which they share with Anhui and Guizhou. Lhasa lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with seven games lost. Hunan's next round opponent will be Guizhou (#5) at home. Lhasa will play against the league's leader Guangxi and hope to win that game.
