Date: July 13, 2018
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Willetton where 5th ranked Tigers (12-7) were crushed by sixth ranked Magic (9-11) 81-54 on Friday. Magic dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Tigers' 32 and made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Magic looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Magic made 23 blocks. American guard Anita Brown (173, college: Akron) fired 21 points and 4 assists for the winners. Slovakian center Regina Palusna (192-89) chipped in 16 points and 9 assists. American forward Ashli Payne (183-95, college: E.Washington, agency: Gamble Sports Management) produced 10 points and 6 assists and Desiree Kelley added 10 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Magic went down to seventh position (League) due to points difference. Loser Tigers keep the fifth place with seven games lost. Magic will face Cougars (#10) in Hamilton Hill in the next round. Tigers will play at home against Hawks (#8) and hope to win that game.
