Regular Season Round 15: Hefei - Henan 96-114

Not a big story in a game in Nanjin where 14th ranked Hefei (1-13) was defeated by ninth ranked Henan (7-7) 114-96 on Friday. The best player for the winners was American Frank Gaines (191-90, college: IPFW) who scored 52 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Guard Longfei Wang (190-91) chipped in 24 points. Henan's coach JianXin Li used entire bench saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Eric Thompson (204-93, college: Pacific) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 21 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Dwayne Lathan (190-89, college: Indiana St.) added 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Four Hefei players scored in double figures. Henan have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place. Loser Hefei keeps the fourteenth position with 13 games lost. Henan will meet at home higher ranked Anhui (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hefei will play against Luoyang (#10) and hope to win that game.
