The biggest surprise of round 19 was guest Spectres' (#2) road victory over Sabres (#3) 79-72 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 23-7 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Spectres dominated on the defensive end, holding Sabres to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Spectres forced 21 Sabres turnovers. Guard Marena Whittle (180-94, college: N.Dakota St.) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Forward Izzy Chilcott (180-90) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Spectres players scored in double figures. Guard Hannah Kaser (178-93, college: St.Mary's, CA) produced 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international Rachel Jarry (185-91) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Spectres maintains second place in League with 13-6 record having four points less than leader Bendigo LB. Sabres at the other side keep the third position with seven games lost. Spectres are looking forward to face league's leader Lady Braves in Bendigo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sabres will play at home against Sydney Uni S. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
