Regular Season Round 9: CDE Esp. Talca - Vial Basket 87-55

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Vial Basket (1-6) was rolled over on the road by third ranked Espanol de Talca (4-4) 87-55 on Saturday. Espanol de Talca forced 19 Vial Basket turnovers and outrebounded them 43-28 including a 36-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Espanol de Talca looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Vial Basket's players. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Mohunir Zerene (187-94) who scored 27 points. Guard Pablo Barraza (184-94) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Carlos San-Cristobal (-90) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and Pablo Arias (-84) added 13 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Espanol de Talca maintains third place in Pro with 4-4 record behind leader Boston Coll. Loser Vial Basket keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Espanol de Talca will face league's leader Aleman in Puerto Varas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vial Basket will play at home against CAP Rancagua (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
