Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Eastern Mavericks (2-15) lost to third ranked Norwood Flames (13-4) in Mt. Barker 88-98 on Saturday. Norwood Flames outrebounded Eastern Mavericks 50-33 including a 15-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Eastern Mavericks were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Daniel Webber (191-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Forward Luke Stanbridge (192-90) contributed with 28 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners. Four Norwood Flames players scored in double figures. American forward William Wise (206-92, college: Dominican, NY) replied with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and T Cromarty added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Eastern Mavericks. Norwood Flames maintains third position in League with 13-4 record having just four point less than leader Mackay M. Loser Eastern Mavericks keep the tenth place with 15 games lost. Norwood Flames will face Forestville Eagles (#5) in Goodwood in the next round. Eastern Mavericks will play at home against Woodville Warriors (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
