Very expected game when 6th ranked Sabres (7-12) were edged by second ranked Spectres (14-5) in Cheltenham 88-86 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 25-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Power forward Simon Conn (206-83, college: Gardner-Webb) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Thomas Wright contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward David Barlow (205-83, college: Metro St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Makuei Puondak (203, college: Martin Methodist) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Sabres. Four Spectres and five Sabres players scored in double figures. Spectres maintains second position in League with 14-5 record having just seven point less than leader Mackay M. Loser Sabres dropped to the seventh place with 12 games lost. Spectres will face Bendigo Braves (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
