Regular Season Round 20: Newcastle H. - Manly Warr. 77-79

A very interesting game took place in Broadmeadow. It ended with only two-point home defeat of top-ranked Newcastle Hunters (14-3) to second ranked Manly Warringah Sea Eagles (13-4) 79-77 on Saturday evening. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in League. The best player for the winners was guard Steven White (182-90, college: Alaska-Anch.) who scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Cale Bulgin chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Four Manly Warringah Sea Eagles players scored in double figures. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Austin Thornton (195-88, college: Michigan St.) produced a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds and Jacob Foy added 17 points respectively for the hosts. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles maintains second position in League with 13-4 record having just four point less than leader Mackay M. Newcastle Hunters at the other side still keep top place with three games lost. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles' next round opponent will be Hills Hornets (#4) in Baulkham Hills. Newcastle Hunters will play on the road against Bankstown Bruins in Condell Park and hope to win that game.
