There was no surprise in Seaford where 8th ranked Frankston Blues (2-17) were crushed by first ranked Lady Cobras (14-5) 81-57 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 15-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-57. Lady Cobras dominated on the defensive end, holding Frankston Blues to just 4 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Frankston Blues' 36. They outrebounded Frankston Blues 47-33 including 19 on the offensive glass. American center Angela Beadle (190-93, college: Sam Houston St.) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Her fellow American import swingman Jasmine Gill (185-90, college: JMU, agency: Two Points) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Lady Cobras' coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Toccara Ross (184-86, college: Iowa St.) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Stacey Barr (173-92, college: Idaho) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Lady Cobras and four Frankston Blues players scored in double figures. Lady Cobras maintains first place in League with 14-5 record. Loser Frankston Blues keep the eighth position with 17 games lost. Lady Cobras will face Lady Bandits (#7) in Albury in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Frankston Blues will play on the road against the league's leader Lady Braves in Bendigo and hope to win that game.
