There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Brisbane Capitals (8-6) rolled over at home 6th ranked South West Metro Pirates (8-6) 97-64 on Sunday. Brisbane Capitals dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to South West Metro Pirates' 34. Brisbane Capitals forced 27 South West Metro Pirates turnovers. Strangely South West Metro Pirates outrebounded Brisbane Capitals 50-35 including a 24-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Naturalized New Zealand swingman Zac Carter (203-89) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. American point guard Aaron Anderson (178, college: N.Dakota) contributed with 20 points and 7 assists for the winners. Five Brisbane Capitals players scored in double figures. Nigerian-American guard Princeton Onwas (198-93, college: San Jose St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and center Tyrell Harrison (213-99) added 9 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for South West Metro Pirates. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Brisbane Capitals moved-up to sixth place in League. Brisbane Capitals' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Brisbane Brisbane Spartans.
