Regular Season Round 16: Henan - Anhui 96-103

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Anhui (12-3) defeated on the road 9th ranked Henan (7-8) 103-96. It looked good early as Henan took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Anhui had a 35-18 second period charge getting the lead and Henan was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 96-103. Anhui forced 20 Henan turnovers and outrebounded them 49-37 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Henan's players. The winners were led by American center Jameel Warney (203-94, college: Stony Brook) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import forward DeQuan Jones (203-90, college: Miami, FL) supported him with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Even 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds by American Frank Gaines (191-90, college: IPFW) did not help to save the game for Henan. Guard Yuxing Jiang (195-95) added 26 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Anhui have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Hunan. Henan at the other side dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Anhui's next round opponent will be Luoyang (#10) at home and are hoping to win another game. Henan will play against the league's second-placed Shaanxi X. in Xian and hope to win that game.
