There was no surprise when 6th ranked Nationals (6-13) lost on the road to fourth ranked Geelong Supercats (11-9) 69-53 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Geelong Supercats. Nationals was better in fourth quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Nationals to just 6 points in third quarter. Geelong Supercats forced 26 Nationals turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Geelong Supercats made 7 blocks. Guard Ebony Rolph (181-94) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 9 rebounds. Venezuelan forward Daniela Wallen (180-95, college: Oklahoma City) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Four Geelong Supercats players scored in double figures. Geelong Supercats' coach David Herbert used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Brittni Montgomery (190-92, college: Cent.Florida) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and Rosemary Schweizer added 9 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Nationals. Geelong Supercats maintains fourth position in League with 11-9 record. Loser Nationals keep the sixth place with 13 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
