There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Bruins (8-6) beat one of their biggest challengers Hunters (10-5) in Condell Park 72-63 on Saturday. Hunters were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Briana Maimone orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Olivia White contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Hannah Young (185-93, college: Virginia Tech) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and Alison Ebzery added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Hunters. Hunters' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Bruins maintains fifth position in League with 8-6 record. Loser Hunters dropped to the fourth place with five games lost. Bruins will face league's leader North Bears in Crows Nest in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hunters will play on the road against Crusaders in Terrigal and hope to win that game.
