The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Flames (14-2) in Rockhampton on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Cyclones (11-5) 86-71. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 15 points. Cyclones dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Flames' 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American Shanavia Dowdell (188-87, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: LBM Management) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import guard Aaryn Ellenberg (170-92, college: Oklahoma) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners. Cyclones' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Miela Goodchild (175-0) replied with 27 points and New Zealand guard Micaela Cocks (174-86, college: Oregon) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for Flames. Cyclones maintains fifth position in League with 11-5 record. Flames at the other side still keep top place with two games lost. Cyclones are looking forward to face league's second-placed Force in Booval in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Flames will play at home against Capitals and are hoping to win this game.
