There was a minor upset in Tarija where 4th placed Carl A-Z (4-3) was rolled over by sixth ranked Vikingos (2-5) 84-58 on Friday. Vikingos outrebounded Carl A-Z 63-34 including a 46-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Carl A-Z's players. Venezuelan point guard Elvis Baez (189-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and Brazilian center Rafael Rodrigues (213-87) chipped in 16 points and 18 rebounds. Vikingos' coach Diego Flores felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The best for the losing side was American guard Scheraun King (196-87, college: Albany St.) with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import point guard Yavario Smith (182-89, college: Central Mo.) scored 12 points. Vikingos maintains sixth place with 2-5 record. Loser Carl A-Z dropped to the third position with three games lost. Vikingos will face league's second-placed CAN Oruro on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Carl A-Z will play against the league's leader Calero in Potosi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
